Introduction to me...

I am a Clinical Associate in Psychology that has extensive experience in the NHS supporting individuals with their mental health. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques and other evidence-based therapy approaches, I help people understand where their difficulties may stem from and develop practical coping strategies to reduce their impact in the here and now. I offer a compassionate and collaborative space through face-to-face, online and walk-and-talk therapy sessions. I have a special interest in coping with intense emotions, low mood, self-esteem, trauma and anxiety.

Have you noticed unhelpful thoughts recently? Are these causing difficulties in your relationships, causing you to worry or leading you to constantly put yourself down? Are you struggling with unwanted memories from past experiences or finding it difficult to regulate your emotions? Therapy can provide a safe space to explore these difficulties.

When you are struggling with overwhelming emotions, past trauma, anxiety or low mood that is impacting your daily life, therapy can offer a space to reflect, develop self-awareness and learn long lasting coping skills. I understand reaching out can feel daunting and I aim to build a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard, safe and comfortable.

Face to Face Therapy

I offer face-to-face therapy sessions in a comfortable and confidential setting. Alternatively, for clients who may find it difficult to attend appointments elsewhere, I can also offer home visits within the local area where appropriate.

Home visits are subject to suitability and availability, with an initial discussion to ensure they provide a safe, confidential and effective environment for therapy.

If you are unsure which option is right for you, please get in touch and we can discuss the most suitable approach for your needs.

Online Therapy

Face to Face Therapy

Face to Face Therapy

I offer therapy sessions remotely via Microsoft Teams or by telephone, providing a flexible and convenient option for those who prefer to access support from home or another private location.

Online therapy can be an effective alternative to face-to-face sessions and may be particularly suitable for those with busy schedules or who feel more comfortable in their own environment.

Before your session, I will ensure all information needed to join the meeting is sent over. Online therapy is best from a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly.

Walk and Talk

Face to Face Therapy

Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk therapy offers an opportunity to engage in your therapy session whilst walking together in the peaceful and grounding surroundings of Belfairs Woods.

Therapy can feel overwhelming. Being outdoors and engaging in gentle movement can make it easier to share what you’re experiencing, with sessions held at a comfortable pace to allow space for conversation and reflection.

Walk and Talk may not be appropriate for everyone, and we will discuss whether this approach is suitable before arranging your first session. Sessions are weather permitting, and as it's a public area, confidentiality must be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at kate@belfairstherapypractice.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In your first therapy session we will have a discussion around what bought you to therapy. We will discuss how your day to day is being impacted by any unhelpful thoughts or emotions. We will explore any current coping skills and whether these are helpful or not. We will complete some questionnaires based on the areas you’re struggling with to review throughout sessions. I will discuss with you how our sessions will look going forward and ensure you feel comfortable proceeding.

Starting therapy can be overwhelming, it is important that you feel ready to speak through and sit with uncomfortable emotions. Therapy requires motivation and willingness to sit with this and also a regular time commitment to see benefits.  If you are unsure if now is the right time for therapy, get in touch for a free 15 minute consultation to discuss this together.

This varies from person to person as everyone comes to therapy with different difficulties, goals and needs. Some individuals find 6-12 therapy sessions are enough to work towards a specific goal whilst others may prefer a longer-term therapy to explore more longstanding and complex difficulties. At our first appointment, we can discuss goals and what you would like to gain from therapy. We will then review progress together and ensure we are working towards these goals. There is no limit in the sessions I will offer. You’re free to end therapy whenever you feel the time is right.

Evidence base suggests those who attend weekly therapy sessions see the most benefits however if this does not fit with your schedule then fortnightly is also a good option. Some clients may request ad hoc therapy sessions once they start to notice improvements.

The therapy sessions will typically be offered in one hour slots however please do discuss this if you would prefer an alternative session time.

Everything discussed in therapy sessions are completely confidential unless there is a risk to yourself or others which may need to be escalated. Please see Therapy Agreement document to review this fully or make contact should you have any questions or concerns regarding this.
